First, use a kitchen knife to scrape up most of the wax. Then, Place a wad of paper towels or a brown paper shopping bag, over the wax and press a steam iron to the paper towels. The heat and steam will penetrate the towels and soften the wax. The towels will absorb the wax (change the towels as needed, depending on how much wax there is). After you have removed as much wax as possible, hold the steam iron just above the carpet surface and let the steam vaporize the remaining wax. Finally, scrub the surface with a detergent solution but be could remove some of the color, and also this spot might be cleaner and thus lighter than the surrounding carpet. Dry the spot as much as possible with more towels and then fluff up the nap and let air dry. This also works on clothes etc.
