Yes, I was talking about the rolled insulation, being as high as the joists. I have never used the blown-in type and don't think I will...

Yes of course I understand what r-factor is. That's why I said as long as the plywood does not compress the insulation (which should only go up to the joists anyway - the ROLLED kind) he should be ok with laying a floor in the attic for storage.
