However an earthquake retrofitter guy who is almost/studying to be an engineer said that using the plates and bolts up high on the new joists combined with the twist plates screwed and bolted into the rafters and topplate/header that I would avoid the walls pushing out, but you think that won't hold? I sure don't want to find out the hard way yet I don't want to remove my roof and add extra wall height.
