Thank you for your reply, sounds like you know what you are talking about. We have fiberglass insulation between the floor joists in the crawl space. The joists are lightly damaged on 1/2 of the house and need replacing on the other half. This we wil do with pressure treated lumber, but the question is, should we remove the FG and replace with rigid insulation, and how can we prevent this problem from occuring again. We were thinking of covering the dirt floor with house wrap, to try to hold down the moisture. And what can be done with the moldy smell in the house, should we discard the carpeting, wash everything down with bleach? is this the only way to cure the problem, other than raising the house, and making a ground level floor?
