Bruce M answered the question under the subject "Jointer Planter" in his followup "Cutting a taper" at 18;40:22 ON 2/01/98. To make the jig, you will need 2 pcs. 1 x 4 x 24" plus a couple of small blocks, all from straight hardwood, a hinge, 2 of the screws with a machine thread on one end and a wood thread on the other and a Shaker Peg. If you happen to catch Norm on New Yankee Workshop when he is cutting tapers, you can see right away how it goes together. You can buy a jig from places like Sears but it looks like the wood version is better, to me. There are also many books that show this jig.
