Dodgeman, "Henry in MI" swears by citri-strip and as far as I know it's a good product. Personally I've never used it
but I'm sure that it's good. I've always used a "chemical PASTE" stripper for the reason of the paste adhering to the
wood and working through the various layers of paint/varnish/etc. Once I've stripped all layers off I follow up with a
light sanding followed by 0000 steel wool. Anyway, that's the methods that I've used with good results, and one of these
days I'll have to try citri-strip so that I'll know whether it's better than the chemicals (sure would like to not have
to wear the rubber gloves, etc.). FWIW, enjoy the excellant work your dad did on the desk, I'm constantly amazed by my
dad's craftsmanship and ingenuity! Good luck, and don't forget to have ADEQUATE ventilation!
