Sycamore roots and concrete slabs...

Hi Glenda,
As a kid, our neighbors had a sycamore in their front yard that had tremendous roots. Eventually, those roots got under the sidewalk and caused a great deal of heaving. Finally, the neighbor removed the concrete, cut this HUGE root completely below the ground, and poured new concrete. It has not been affected anymore, but the tree is 40 years old and completely mature, so it is probably not actively growing new roots like that. In you situation, there is no way to "get under the slab" and to fix this, it must be removed to get at the "root" of the problem. Best of Luck.
