How many wires at the switch? If just a black and a white, there should be 1 receptacle where a black is spliced to white. If so, the black of the cable with that white is your switch controlled wire.Or if there is a 3 wire at the swirch, or a 3 wire and a 2 wire, then the red wire is usually the switch controlled wire at the box. If you are handy, get a book on basic electriciity first.
