Sweating pipes and grout sealer ?s

Posted by BGK on February 4th, 2001 05:26 PM

I posted a question here some time ago asking for advice on locating an intermittant plumbing leak. Well, I found the "leak" and it appears to be some serious condensation on my cold water pipes. Interestingly, the condensation occurs rarely and seems to happen on a warm day after several cold days. I don't have a humidistat, but I don't believe that the humidity in my house is excessive. I do have a whole-house humidifier, but I keep it set low (20-25%) to avoid window condensation. Is foam pipe sheathing a good product to prevent pipe condensation? Is there something else that works better?
Also, I'd appreciate your opinions on the best grout sealer to use in a shower.
