suspended ceiling and main beam

Posted by Mike on March 10th, 2003 07:46 PM

I am putting in a drop ceiling (suspended) and I want to allow a hole that I dropped dry wall thruogh to still be accessible.
In ordert to do this I have to run the main beams parrllel to the joists just below in lieu of perpindicular or 90 degree. I assume this is to offset the weight. All the directions indicate a 90 to the joists. Has any one else hung under and along the joists as I would like to do. the ceiling will be 10 feet wide and 28 feet long.
Thanks Mike
