Hi, Steve S. We would have to know a lot more to help. How is the water supposed to flow away from your house? If it is just dropped outside the foundation, certainly it will recycle back into the sump. You have to run a pipe some distance away either into your yard, to a drain line that runs along the back of your property as sometimes is possible, or into a Fench drain. It is usually illegal to pump the water into the city drain system as this is set up to handle wastes and not rainwater. And this pipe will have to flow downhill, may have to be protected from freezing and be free running, not clogged with roots. The topography of your lot and available sewer service will determine a lot of the answers. You may want to contact your local authorities as they would know what you have and what's available. It can be difficult to determine many answers for you on this without seeing the area and knowing what can be done but if you can give us more info, I'm sure that you will get some help here also.
