Our sump pump runs a whole lot.
We are at the low end of a large slope in a very large development, maybe 500 ft rise over a one-third mile run. Our sump pump kicks on for 5 seconds every 10-15 minutes during times when, say, snow is thawing. It has currently been raining moderately for 20 hours, and the ground was saturated prior to the rain, so the pump kicks in for about 5 seconds each minute.
1) should we be concerned?
2) what's the likely life of the pump.
It is electric, and appears pretty much inaccessible under concrete in the basement.
(when it pumps, it appears to dump about a quart of water into an open mouth drain going back into the ground)
