sump pump runs a lot?

Posted by jh on September 17th, 2001 06:57 PM

We have a basement with a sump pump in which the pump runs about 3-7 times per day. Even when we don't get any rain that day, it still runs. The only time it doesn't run is when it is really dry and we haven't had any rain for a long time. We don't have any basement problems. The neighbors always tell us that we live above an underground stream, could that be true. And is it okay if it runs that much? It also always runs right after we water the grass next to the foundation. Is this normal?
