I'm renovating an 1830 Dutch Colonial farmhouse in Brooklyn. Architect's plans called for sump pump at "lowest point in cellar" with "discharge pipe to existing sewer line." Contractor placed pump in middle of basement and ran pipe up from pump and then out front foundation wall. Now I have a pipe standing in middle of my very narrow (less than 12' wide) basement. Can this situation be remedied short of digging whole new sump pit?
