Good morning...I need help asap. Two years ago, we were hit by lightening on a Friday knocking out numerous appliances. We failed to check the sump pump and came home on Wednesday to water in our finished basement. Insurance covered both, and only charged us one deductable. However, we have just sold our home and have a purchase agreement on another home and they are not going to insure us on the new home due to the fact that we had two claims. They say the lightening one does not count because it's an act of God, but that the sump pump is counted as a seperate issue because according to their adjusters once a sump pump is hit by lightening, you can not get it to work again which is why they count it as another claim and not rolled in with the lightening strike (we were able to get it running for a short while before it started smoking and quit completely). Please advise if you know if a sump pump is hit by lightening if it can be restarted again or if its a total loss? Thanks!
