What is the best type of subfloor to put down over existing vinyl in a kitchen? The vinyl has asbestos backing and shouldn't be pulled up. Also the existing floor is 20yrs old and has some dips and uneven spots. Since I am scared of hardwood in the kitchen and don't like cold feet (tile) I will probably (not 100% sure)go with a high quality vinyl. Would I use a different subfloor if I went with wood, tile or vinyl?
