Recently I opened a pocket door in the basement with too much force (yes, I was upset at something stupid and then slammed it open) and now the door is stuck inside the wall. I need some better advice than myself (see first sentence) about how to get the thing out. I have two ideas:
1 - Clamp the edge of the door, pull until something gives, fix the result.
2 - The wall the door rolls into is shared with a little closet. Cut a hole in the closet wallboard, pry the door out, fix the result.
I do not know how many different ways pocket doors can be installed, so I'm not sure where to look in the wall to see what is keeping the door from coming back out.
(PS I'm in a rental property that shows its 35 year rental history so I don't want to spend too much, but I don't want to stiff the property owner either.)
