stucco removal

If you remove the stucco, you can look to see if you have any rotten wood underneath that needs replacing as well as adding any additional insulation, foam board, and sealing around windows, etc. A tyvek wrap would be a good and cheap investment also as well as keeping it dry during construction.

Since your house is over 100 years old, now would be the time to fix any problems before covering up the problem for another 30 years. You probably have lath and plaster wall and blowing in insulation through holes in the outside before the vinyl would be better than from the inside.
