stucco a ceiling?

Are you sure you have stucco and not a rough plaster texture coat? The latter looks to be an even coat of pebbles. Take one of the pebbles off the ceiling and crush it. It's probably a styrean pill covered with plaster. To put this one go to a home improvement store and buy either a can of the appropriate texture which will cover a very small area and in my opinion gives a less than purfect result. Better yet buy a bay of the agrigate tecture mix and rent a texture machine. The texture is mixed with water and placed in a hopper and blown on to the ceiling with compressed air. The process is very messy and you must cover everything you don't wish to be speckled with texture.
