Stripping paint off an old house

Posted by Jason Whaling on September 17th, 2001 07:06 PM

i am tring to strip the peeling paint off of my home. the house was built in the 1880s and i assume it has the original cedar siding. the paint is being an absolute bear to get off the house. i am currently trying to use my powerwasher but it is not working well. i tried using a scraper and a torch but that is very time consuming and i dont want to burn my home down. the sanders i have are working but again at a very slow rate. is there some kind of chemical wash i can use or some other way to strip the paint off the house? no one at the local home improvement places seems to have any idea on how to help me so any tips or pointers that anyone can give will be greatly appreciated.
