Hi, Elaine. First I suggest an environmentally and physically safe stripper like Citristrip. Circa 1850 is also supposed to be pretty good but I haven't tried it.

Nest, you might want to check out the board at and then "Ask the Experts". There is quite a bit of info there and you might want to search the board by hitting ctrl+F from the "Ask the Experts" page. A window will appear and you can type in words like molding and then click and read.

Be sure to wear chemical resistant gloves like dishwashing gloves and eye protection when you are using any stripper.
