I have red oak banister & pickets that I want to strip and restain to match the new stairs I'm having installed. I tried to match a colour to the existing banister but due to the aging process, the colours were quite far apart so I decided the easiest route would be to strip the banister/pickets and restain. I didn't realize how difficult this is until I started the project. I'm using Circa 1850 stripper which I don't find very effective. Is there a better way that maybe isn't so time consuming? I was hoping to complete the stripping before my new stairs are installed (one week). Is this possible and should I be using power tools instead?

Please help!
