storm windows

Posted by Liz Harris on August 3rd, 1998 08:50 PM

My husband and I own a 215 year old house which has 40-50 year old storm windows in need of replacement, but we don't want to replace the windows themselves. We're trying to decide which storm window option offers us the best energy savings--standard triple-track storms, those with a low "air infiltration ratio," or double-paned storms with a 1/4 inch pane separation. Any advice? We can't seem to get a straight answer anywhere, and we don't want to waste money on an inferior solution.
