Stockade fences

Posted by Ryan on April 23rd, 2001 08:07 AM

Good day. I'm looking for a rule of thumb for installing stockade fencing sections on a sloping landscape.

I'm just wondering what the 'drop' should be (in inches) for the sections when doing this. And should it be on a per section basis, or say, on a per 3 section basis? There is a slight, steady drop along the fence run. I'm thinking that if I do this on a per section basis, my fence is going to look a lot like steps. However, if I do it on, say, a per 2 or 3 section basis, it wouldn't look so bad.

What I'm leaning towards is stepping the sections 3 at a time, not 2 but I could be wrong. The sloping isn't that bad so I'm hoping you're going to tell me not to drop the sections more than 4 to 6 inches. Please come back.

And THANKS very much in advance. Ryan.
