In reply to Joist to Stud Offset in Framing by Chris E on December 13th, 2002 04:57 PM [Go to top of thread]

Greetings Chris E,

Please don't take this the wrong way but, you are setting yourself up a major mistake.

You need to find out what codes are being used by your Inspector before you start building.

You have gone ahead and set the I beams and now you are looking to see if this meets code. This is not the way to build.

You said your I beams, "ended up", between your studs. Did you submit framing plans when you applied for your building permit? What did the framing plans call for?

If your inspector does not accept this, you will be redoing a lot of work and the inspector will be going over your work with a fine tooth comb.

Stop, ask, understand, then build!

Good luck,
