I would suggest that you buy the latest magazine edition of Family Handyman. There is a detailed story and how to concerning the new steel building materials.
If My memory serves me correctly, the cost of steel framing is 1/3 the price of traditional wood framing.
The benefits of steel over wood are enormous. The only down fall of steel material over wood is the labor costs. Steel takes different tools, different skills, and different fasteners, and different elecrical boxes and different wiring protective adapters around the holes for the wiring to string through.
So, with material and labor in the mixer, the total costs may not be that different from wood.
Check out the mag and if you cannot for some reason find it, let me know and I will copy the pages and send via mail to you. I live in Dallas, Texas, up the street from you.
