I live in a very rural area and I doubt I could get a concrete cutting service out to my home, but I will look into it.
The saw I'm renting is described at:
From everything I've heard, it's the perfect saw for my application. And it's only going to cost me $150.
As far as the Drain Tile, my first step will be to excavate the entire drain tile which will be covered by the landing just to see if the whole thing is adjacent to and not on top of the footing. I'll then test it as you suggest (great idea!)
If it's as I suspect (adjacent to the footing) then I'll tap it directly.
How can I protect the portion of the drain tile that will be covered from the concrete I'll be pouring? Should I sock it? Should I replace that portion of the tile with the same size solid piping?
