Staircase Skirt Boards

Posted by Shakadula on January 7th, 2000 02:31 PM

I am replacing pine treads with oak treads and find
that the stairs were meant for carpet. The stringers
are cut into the sheetroc so I need to hide the gaps.
I decided to move the stringers inward about an inch and
add a skirt board to trin it out. My question is how
do you determine the dimensions for a rectangular board
that will be on maybe a 45 degree slope. I don't want
to use the trial and error method like I do for most
Thanks in advance for your help.

# of treads = 7
Ht of riser = 7 1/4"
length of tread = 35"
