staining adjacent dis-similar woods.

Posted by Don Hess on October 5th, 1999 01:52 PM

I have recently stripped some old paint from a 6 step
crown mold only to find that the woods involved were
not the same. I have a mix of oak, popular and some
doug fir. Is there a product on the market, or some
known method of staining the dis-similar woods to at
least look almost alike? I heard that there are heavy
bodied stains that could work, but have not been able
to lacate. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
