stained trim is to light

Posted by Terrie Riley on November 4th, 2002 08:12 PM

I am finishing my basement and have purchased pine trim for the molding around the doors and floors. I applied a natual minwax stain and one coat of polyurethane. now i think it's to light and would like a darker shade. i thought i would have to strip it but after doing three of these it seem easier to bu new molding.

now i was just looking at the minwax site and figured out i could apply the "one step stain and polyurathane" finish on top of my exisitng polyurathane for a darker finish. Does anyone agree with my new plan. I hope henry from Mi is listening because he seems to be an expert at this.
