Stain over old stain

Posted by Sue M. on February 3rd, 2003 10:20 AM

I have a 1960's dining room table, 6 chairs and hutch. Most of the hutch & tabletop are veneer. Here's the question: It's that "Brady House" color "maple" (very outdated)....if I clean the furniture thoroughly, can I apply a stain over it as it is? The veneer won't hold up to stripping. I would like to make the set a cherry color. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks. Sue
