My house is about 15 years old and is equipped with a Sta-Tech 1000 termostat. This is a big looking thing (5" x 9" or so), with a red LED readout. The company appears to be out of business. I would like to replace the unit as it lacks features found on newer units, but it does do one thing that makes replacement not so easy. It takes temperature readings from six sensors i various rooms around the house, activating flapper valves in the ducts to turn on or off the airflow to that particular room, depending on its' temperature and the desired temperature on the thermostat. Pretty slick, but the sensors are woefully inaccurate and the system just does not work very well. I would like to use the flapper valves, but is there any thermostat available that can make use of the existing sensors and flapper valves? The sensors are about the size of wall plate for a light switch.
