Our entire family loves our weekly stories of how we get rid of squirrels. Great. Ours are now good for good!
My husband plugged the chewed holes with a bunch of steel wool.
The other reply of a live trap is right on. The thing to remember, which we have been told by many people with this problem, is to release the squirrel at LEAST ten miles away or they will come back.

Peanut buter in the trap is excellent also.
We did not cut our numerous trees back; the squirrels can jump VERY FAR!
I talked with a woman at a pest control business and she gave me the entire breeding, nesting and living cycles of squirrels. (A little more than I needed to know) You might want to call them, but then just trap the squirrels yourself.
Oh, and lights and music in the attic do NOT scare them away.
Hope this helps
