Squeeky hardwood floor

I have a house that is approx. 60 years old. The hardwood flooring has a LOT of squeeky boards throughout the house.
What is the best way to eliminate the squeeks without replacing the flooring? There is a crawl space under the house and there is not subflooring.
Is there a way to expand the boards to tighten them up? Oils or water??? Screw metal plates to the underside of the boards??
