Suzanne, Hi,
Clean off the paint where the screws are in the hinges, unscrew the door from the frame.
Start at the top and unscrew the hinges from the frame.
( when you start at the top, the doors weight will be hanging from the top)
While your husband is taking the last screw out you can hold the door
so it will not fall over."internal doors are not heavy".
Take off the molding on the side where the door frame is split, do this
on one side (Hings side) take great care because of the paint.
Clean out the split the best you can, drill 3 holes with a 3/16" drill
on the side of the frame where you have taken off the molding.
Drill one in the center of the split, one above and one below ( take care not
to drill where the screws for the hing wil go), take a paint brush small one and
paint into the split some good wood glue, if it runs no problem you can clean it
after, screw in 3 x 2"1/2 screws. this should squeese the split together
clean off the glue and refix the molding which should cover the 3 screws, and
repaint,(sorry about that but?"
Have fun.

off after you have
