Space Heaters

Posted by Leslie on October 16th, 2001 03:35 AM

I want to get a couple space heaters for my home to supplement the heat pump system we have. The main interest would be to have one in the family room and another to use in a bedroom if needed. There seem to be several different types such as quartz, ceramic, oil-filled, etc. Some of them come with a true thermostat so a temperature can be set and it would heat until the temp is reached - that seems like a good idea since it would shut off when temp is reached. However, beyond that, is there any ideas on how to determine which type is the best as far as efficiency? I know they show how much Btu they provide as an energy use is concerned but I have been told that different types are better at providing better heat distribution. Any ideas? Thanks! Leslie.
