soundproofing your townhome wall

I have the same problem, but I can hear the music onboth my levels. there's a good chance your neighbor just moved their stereo along the common wall which is most likely. get them to move it or appeal to the association. most have rules about you have cinderblock as a firewall? i was told by an accoustical engineer , that due to settling your cinderblock may have developed cracks. check your exposed areas and if you find any seal them with mortar.i'm finding all the other alternatives i've looked into as being very expensive with no guarantees of success. good luck
