Soundproofing, staggering studs

You forgot to tell her to set the staggered studs on a 2x6, not a 2x4. IF you set them on a 2x4 then each stud will touch both sides of the walls.

You would set them so stud 1,3,5,etc. touched one wall and 2,4,6,etc. would touch the other wall.

What I'm doing is using Resiliant Channel to remove the actual wallboard from the studs. You can do this on both sides of the wall and accomplish "better" than the offset stud theory.
