I'm presently building a home in the Bahamas where we have high humidity (and also very dry periods). The hardwood flooring that we plan to install has been on site for many months now and is ready to be installed. The noise being transmitted through to a rental suite below (home is like a backsplit) is loud! Several people have suggested that we use a double layer of cork underlay (with moisture protection)and iinstall a floating floor (to deal with humidity changes). What is the best way to deal with the two problems; noise transmission and foating floor vs nailed down?
