Hi. I an presently transforming a garage into a Drum Room/Rehearsal Studio. The room measures 10'-4" x 27'-3" and I am at the point of building the stud walls (2" x 4"). The floor is 5/8" plywood over 3/4" furring strips over concrete and there is an 8" platform for my Drum Kit(plywood over 2" x 8"s). The ceiling will be a "drop" type. What I would like to know is: What is the best way to soundproof this room without blowing my budget? Is there anything commercialy available that I can use? Will rigid insulation and carpeting the walls help? Thanks for checking this out!
