I have hardwood floors witch I'm planning to take out because they squeak. My tenants also speak very loundly until late at night. I would like to have your opinion on the best way of sound proofing without braking my ceiling but only by fixing the floor upstairs.
What follows is what I'm thinking to do:
I want to take out my hardwood floor, take out the plywood under and fill my joist with 2 sets of sound proof insolation. Do I have to leave space between both insolations or do I put them one on top of each other ? After I will install new plywoods with screws and on top of the plywood I'm putting some 1/8 inch rubber mat between the plywood and the hardwood floor. Then, I will install back the old hardwood floor on top of the rubber mat. Will this cut the sound by at least 70% ?
