and I respect all sides. this is a question that arouses opinions like what brush do your prefer?
Now, here is my thinking and what I have been told. Mesh tape is Not stronger as said above, but it is more flexible to movement and will forgive a bit.
Now, I don't use paper tape because I have found in my area where homes shift over night, that walls above doors and windows repaired with mesh tape will most likely not crack again. My home is a very good test for that thinking.
Cracks always occur around windows and above doors, I repair all of them with mesh.
Now, I have found that mesh takes about four or five applications of mud to get a good cover up. Tape takes only three correct?
When I am done, you cannot see the mesh and the surface is smooth and nice.
But, here I go with some killing of my own thinking; if mesh is flexible and will give to an extent, then how does this happen with five layers of mud over that mesh?
I would think that the mud negates the flex of the mesh with all that coats.
