In reply to asbestos in blown insulation? by Ed on November 20th, 2000 07:32 AM [Go to top of thread]

Hi Ed,

I can't say for sure about what you have but you may be able to have your OWN ASHI-Approved Home Inspector tell you 1) what type of insulation it is, and 2) MAYBE if it contains asbestos. (In the latter, he may not say for sure because of the probable liability.) DO ask him if he knows how to get the material analyzed.

If your Home Inspector can't tell you, contact your local Building Inspector for guidance. Also, there's the EPA (which your Building Inspector will DEFINITELY know how to contact!) They're Regional, Statewide, and Federal EPA (probably even County EPAs ...) One of them should be able to help you w/it.

I wish I had more to offer. My best to ya and hope this helps.
