I need soapstone slabs for kitchen countertops.
Can't find anyone in the Los Angeles area who knows
the subject. I would prefer to buy it locally if
possible. I've tried to contact The Vermont Soapstone
Company for info (That's where *** **** got his) - via
phone but I get a machine and no returned phone calls.
I also have a few questions:
How do I know it's really soapstone?
I was given a sample, but I have my doubts
that it really is soapstone. Also, I have read that
it should be treated with mineral oil, and that the
darkening occurs over time with oxidation. What are
the advantages and disadvanteges of using a sealer?
Would that hinder the natural process of oxidation?

Any information on care of soapstone and purchasing
from a reputable source in the LA area would be
greatly appreciated. Desperate! Thanks
