I am sorry I do not have an answer to your question, but I would like to suggest that you not paint any wood in an attempt to get rid of the smell. Walls and ceilings have to be painted, but most people these days prefer wood in its natural state. It is very, very difficult to remove paint from woodwork and I think you will be sorry that you painted it. I would start with the carpets as the probable source of the strongest odor, and I would have them professionally cleaned with a special additive to the shampoo specifically for removing odors. That might make the house tolerable until the rest of the odor wears off. Good luck
