Excess humidity grows mold. A dehumidifier removing 4 gallons of water means nothing. Keep the relative humidity below 50%RH means everythingt. Get a %RH Meter for Wal-Mart, $15. In wet climates you need to remove 4 gallons per day. Get a large one! Check EPA's "Energy Star" web site for capacity and eff.
