Small/Odd jobs....

Hi David, here's what I would suggest doing. Drive around to some new construction sub-divisions (around lunch time or quitting time), and talk to some of the laborers working on new homes. They might be interested in a small job say on the weekend or afternoon/evenings. Try catching/talking to guys working on framing or building decks or outside stairs... they're typically looking to make some extra cash.

Now of course these are the guys working for the "licensed" contractor, so they most likely won't be licensed themselves, but if they've been in the business a couple of years or so then they probably know what they're doing.

Another option is to go to some local lumber yards and see what business cards are posted around there (typically the smaller stores, not the big home centers). Also be sure to talk to the counter help there, and see who they know that may be interested in smaller jobs.
