slightly off topic--fair price for snow removal?

Posted by Mr. Plow on February 26th, 2003 03:23 PM

I live on a private road in Virginia about 3/4 mile long that has 7 lots in a road association. All the houses are fairly new. I've been clearing snow from the road for 3 years w/no compensation (asked for or given). My question--if I were to approach the association with a compensation plan, what is the fair market price for snow removal by a tractor/blade on a per hour basis? Snow removal averages 3 times per year and takes about 2 hours to do a good job (not counting any driveways). My thoughts are to charge for the road clearing to the association, and any driveways would be on an individual basis. Let the opinions (and anecdotes) roll...
