Slight Gas smell from Wall Furnace

Posted by Bob Lindemann on November 11th, 2002 04:21 PM

We recently purchased a home with 2 natural gas wall furnaces. Is it normal to smell a faint scent of gas when the pilots are lit? I have had the local gas company out who said the heaters are in good shape, and have a CO2 detecter in the area of both heaters that read proper readings, but I always smell a little gas smell in the rooms with the heaters. Not an over whelming strong odor, but enough to concern me.
They are vented thru the roof to the outside and I have checked the stacks for blockage. These wall furnaces are about 18" wide by 5' tall.
