In reply to Imitation Slate Roof by Jim Griffith on April 4th, 2000 08:22 PM [Go to top of thread]

Sorry, it's Majestic Skylines, out of Ontario, CAN. For the homeowner or contractor who wants the look of a slate roof without the hefty price tag, a new 100 percent recycled 100 percent recyclable roofing material is now available.

The roofing shingle, made by Majestic Skylines of Ontario, Canada, consists of 50 percent rubber roofing, 25 percent polyethylene and 25 percent polypropylene plastics from industrial sources. The cost of the shingles is half the price of slate. The structural requirements are the same as asphalt shingles and the life expectancy is 50 years.

I just saw a spot on this last night, actually. I guess it's about 1/2 what a slate roof would cost you. Lasts maybe 50 years or so. Sweet!
